Sarah Islas graduated from VCMS in 2007. She is currently a senior at Saint Mary’s, serving as the vice president of the student body. Since middle school Sarah has continued to look challenges in the face and overcome them. She was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes at the end of eighth grade, an experience that has radically changed her life. Add that to the plate of usual high school challenges—balancing family, sports, classes, extra curricular activities—and you can see why Sarah’s resolve is so strong. During the past four years of high school, Sarah’s faith has been tested, as well. Whenever she would have a tough day, her dad would place a devotional book on her bed or tape a powerful scripture to her bathroom mirror; the constant reminder of God’s presence has fueled a love for her Savior and others. She would love prayer for the college application/decision process. Sarah has recently been accepted by a number of universities in California but she is hoping to attend an east coast college in the fall. Wherever she lands, we know the Lord has great plans for Sarah!
